Bruce MacCormack

CBC Radio-Canada, Executive Architect, Media Management and Workflow Transformation

Bruce MacCormack  is a seasoned executive with a background in operations, sales, marketing, and corporate strategy in the media, telecom, and technology sectors.

MacCormack is currently with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) / Radio-Canada where he has the mandate to develop and implement a comprehensive Media Asset Management system to unify the digital production of television, radio, and interactive media for the national French and English networks.

Prior to his current engagement, he was vice president of business development for The Chronicle Herald newspaper where he managed product development for digital news delivery, as well as sales and marketing operations. MacCormack's media experience also includes being the founding president of CanWest Interactive where he established the network of local news portals. He has been the president and COO of MTS Advanced Media, the product development, directory advertising, and internet services arm of Manitoba Telecom Services.

MacCormack's technical skills were developed at Nortel in the Digital Switching and Optical Transmission divisions. At Nortel, he also had roles in product management and global corporate strategic planning.

He has built teams of employees from the ground up, managed mergers, and renewed corporate cultures. Major transactional experience as an executive officer includes a large IPO (MTS - $910M, 1996), as well as the integration of a major acquisition (CanWest’s acquisition of Hollinger’s Canadian Newspapers – $3.2B, 2000).

MacCormack has been a member of the Young President’s Organization, a past president of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and was the chair of the Atlantic Film Festival.

His background includes an MBA (York University) and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (McGill).
