Keith Barbaria

NBC Boston, Telemundo Boston, and New England Cable News, VP of Technology and Operations

Keith Barbaria has been the VP of technology and operations for NBC Boston, Telemundo Boston, and New England Cable News (NECN) since January 2016. Working with the team in Boston, Barbaria led the technology and facility upgrade for the historic launch of the new NBC-owned station on January 1, 2017.

Prior to joining the station in Boston, Barbaria was the director of technology and engineering for NBC Connecticut. He was the project leader for the build and integration of NBC Connecticut’s new facility, which launched in July 2009.

In Barbaria’s time with the owned stations, he has worked to support a number of big news stories, major weather events, and live broadcasts. Some of these include New Year’s Eve First Night Boston, Hurricane Irene, the fall snow storm of 2011, Hurricane Sandy, and the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, for which NBC Connecticut was awarded the George Foster Peabody Award for their coverage.

Before that, Barbaria spent 10 years in New York with NBC’s Today Show, the last 6 years serving as the show’s technical manager. He was part of the leadership team that managed the project to upgrade Today to HD, including the design, build, and launch of the show’s control room, studio, and facility.
